incidentally this is the first time i’ve broken 50 entries in a month since april 2017 (!). i’ve not been on good pace lately.
★★ fun fun fun is a genuinely great song.
★★ don’t worry baby. i could love this too.
actually, this is a girl group song. this is absolutely a spector track. it’s melodically exactly like that, and is only missing the 990 other instruments needed to get the sound. (oh apparently it was written as a response to be my baby)
★ in the parkin’ lot: “doo ron doo ron” yep.
and why would you put the gag track at a4? why would you put it on the album at all? why would it be longer than every other song?
★ warmth of the sun
★ why do fools fall in love has some serious drums
★ keep an eye on summer. that ending though!
and then capitol apparently decided they hit their quality quota for the lp.
i feel like this and all summer long could be combined to make a genuinely great album, but apparently this was pumped out to cash in on the british invasion so it was not to be. i think. wikipedia is confusing in this regard and i should know better than to attribute motivations to macro phenomena.
