★★ made in heaven. i actually think this started playing as i was listening to i will and i think that’s why i loved it so much. i’ll need to remember that feeling, but even as it stands this is byuutiful.
★★ let me keep this memory
★ cat’s cradle
★ falling
★ another life
★★ tranquilizer. this feels… reassuring?
★★ the ones who walk in the sun, and when you phrase it like that… wouldn’t you want to be one of those too? wouldn’t anyone?

things i’m learning:

  • ethereal pads will make me swoon, but it takes something more to keep me satisfied (or, the Sewerslvt principle)
  • i think this whole project might be a bit of a front for their merch line
    • would i buy their merch? iunno, maybe, but it’s low-priority

you know, the more i think about it, girls just wanna have fun has a pretty smart set of lyrics
like, she’s working, she’s doing what she needs to do to get by, but even squeezing her fun in during the few hours she has to herself, under the cover of night, is seen as irresponsible
as if the way she’s “supposed to” live is to be taken by a guy and hidden away, to raise a family, with no time for herself at all
whereas to be the one to walk in the sun is to be privileged (fortunate?) enough to get to have fun all the time, even during the daytime

actually though
perhaps even something queer about it too, if we want to take edelman’s No Future as a jumping-off point for analysis

so in reality it’s a song about the infantilization of women, sung in a way that is intentionally infantilizing as part of the commentary…
